Does God Exist?  Lectureship
 
    Former atheist and now Christian apologist, John Clayton makes a return visit to Kirksville to explore evidences for belief in God. The lectureship begins Fri. March 23 at 7 PM in the Robison Planetarium in Magruder Hall on the Truman State University campus.  The topic on this occasion is “What Is God & How Are We Made in His Image?” Question and Answer sessions follow each program. 
       On Sat. the 24th, the lectureship moves to the Kirksville Church of Christ, 110 Pfeiffer Ave.  A free exhibit, with free materials will be provided.  At 10:30 a.m. Mr. Clayton explores “Which God?  Why the Bible?”  A free lunch follows.  An afternoon program on “The Rational God” begins at 1 PM.
      At 6 PM a free showing of the movie The Case for Christ takes place at the Take Root Café Theatre.  This film will launch a 4 week series on Wednesday nights at the church beginning on March 28th.
    On Sun., the 25th, at the church’s 10 AM study, Mr. Clayton considers “Why Did God Create Man, and Why Do We Suffer?” At 11 AM he asks, “What Kind of Faith Do You Have?”

A devout atheist until his early 20s, John Clayton was part of the same organized atheist group that made Madeline Murray O’Hair famous.  He decided to write a book called All the Stupidity of the Bible, but instead found himself slowly becoming convinced about Christianity.  Today, he travels the U.S. giving some 40 lectures per year on the subject “Does God Exist?”  He is a retired teacher and geologist by profession, having taught for 41 years in public schools in South Bend, Indiana.  He holds a B.S. from Indiana University in Education with a concentration in Physics and Mathematics.  He holds an M.S. from Indiana University in Education with a concentration in Chemistry and Psychometry.  He also holds an M.S. from the University of Notre Dame in Geology and Earth Science.  Mr. Clayton has received numerous teaching awards.  He maintains a popular website ( http://www.doesgodexist.org/ ) that stresses that science and faith are not enemies, but friends.
