The State of Education Address

The Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee will host the first in our (TGIF) The Government in Focus series on Friday, February 1, 2019, beginning with the State of Education Address.

The event will be held at the Economic Development Alliance, 315 S. Franklin, and will begin at 8 am. Coffee and donuts will be served at 7:30 am. 

Representatives from both public and private schools have been invited to participate. Those include;  Kirksville R-III, Novinger R-1, Brashear R-2, Mary Immaculate School, Faith Lutheran, Life Church School and the Kirksville Homeschool Association. 

Representatives givng updates from higher education include the Kirksville campus of Moberly Area Community College, A T Still University and Truman State University. 

This event is free and open to the public.

Free Adult Mental Health First Aid Training - Open to the Community

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders or someone struggling with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. After attending the full training you will receive a certification similar to that of CPR and First Aid. 

WHAT IT COVERS
• Common signs and symptoms
of mental illness.
• Common signs and symptoms
of substance use.
• How to interact with a person
in crisis.
• How to connect the person
with help.
• NEW: How to administer naloxone
in the event of an opioid overdose.

The State of the City Address

The Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee will host the State of the City  Address on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 8 am at the Economic Development Alliance, 315 S. Franklin.  This will be the second event in this year's (TGIF) The Government in Focus series. Representatives from the City of Kirksville will give an update on past and current projects, as well as what they have planned for the coming year.
 
The event will begin at 8 am with coffee and donuts served at 7:30 am.  This informative event is free and open to the public.
